How long should my battery last?

If we supply you with a Gel Cell golf trolley battery, it should deliver in excess of 350 recharge cycles.

The latest AGM golf battery should give you in excess of 300 recharge cycles, almost up to Gel performance.

Both of these recharge cycle numbers however can be impacted by how you treat / maintain your battery :-
• When your battery arrives from golftrolleybatteries.co.uk it will be fully charged, but we do advise that you immediately give it a top up charge for a few hours before you use it on the trolley
• Only use the correct charger which was supplied by your golf trolley manufacturer or one specifically designed for deep cycle GEL/AGM batteries. It must say that it is a two or three stage (step) charger or have a red/orange and green light. That is because there must be a very low maintenance charge to keep your battery in peak condition.
• Do not leave your battery in a discharged state; always put it on charge immediately after your round of golf and leave it on the maintenance charge until your next round of golf. Please do not leave it on the maintenance charge for very long periods, such as over wintering.
• Do not store your battery in ‘extreme’ conditions, either very cold or very hot. When you do store your battery for a prolonged period, give it a refreshing charge every month, it will pay you back for your care.  
• Every four or five rounds check that your golf trolley is in good working order with no sticky wheels or bearings etc. Extra drag will make your battery think it is going uphill for eighteen holes!

What is the difference between an AGM battery and a Gel Cell battery?

Good question. You were probably supplied with an AGM battery (Absorbed Glass Mat) when you originally bought your trolley.

AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) is really designed as a general purpose battery, but the ones used for golf have thicker plates and are capable of deep cycle use.

It is also the cheapest golf battery type and should last for about 300* cycles. However, technology moves on and our very latest AGMs are approaching Gel standards and will allow in excess of 300 cycles and 70% discharge.

The Gel Cell trolley battery is robust and is capable of living with harsh operating environments and should last for over 350 cycles* It is also proven to last well in golf applications.
We don’t mind which you buy as both products we supply will serve you well, but we will continue to give you a choice whenever possible.

Why can’t I use a car battery on my Golf Trolley?

A golf trolley requires a ‘deep cycle golf battery’. The term ‘deep cycle,’ put simply, means a battery that is designed to store a lot of energy, which can be drained and then recharged over and over again.

In contrast, a starting battery, which is used in a car, is designed to deliver a quick burst of energy, but never become very drained, as it is continually charged up by the car’s alternator.
It is very important to only use a deep cycle battery on your trolley with the correct type of charger as a car charger will shorten your golf trolley battery's life very considerably.

We have a taken a strategic business decision to always try and be amongst the cheapest golf trolley battery providers in the UK but without sacrificing build quality and performance.

We are constantly evaluating our pricing and reviewing the golf battery market to ensure that we offer you the highest performance golf batteries at the lowest golf battery prices possible.

Also, sad though it may be but golf trolley batteries are all that we do! So we keep our range to the bare minimum and don’t deal in car batteries, mobility batteries, golf equipment etc. etc.

How do I change the "T" bar connector (Interconnect) on my battery for a Torberry cable connector?

It is a really simple task to change your connector, all you need is a 4mm hexagon key (Allen key) or a 4mm hex bit for your electric screwdriver.

  • Firstly remove the "T" bar connector from the battery by using your 4mm hex key through the two holes in the front of the connector (just to the sides of the actual connector slot). These screws will undo very easily.
  • Now use the hex screws you have just removed to screw the leads of your Torberry connector to the battery using the same holes as the "T" bar was fixed to. Please ensure that you fix the red lead to the correct side of the battery. When you have taken the "T" bar connector off, you will see a bold red stripe on the left of the battery adjacent to the screw hole, you must fix the red lead this side.
  • That is all that is usually necessary. If by some chance you have an unusual trolley and a charger where the connector does not seem to fit correctly with red to red, although it looks the same, you will need to adjust the connector on your new lead. Simply pull the sheath on your new connector back and slide the red and black connectors apart, cross them over so that the outside edge of each connector is now in the middle and slide them back together again (they are a bit like a mini tongued and grooved). You will now find that all is ok. If the connectors will not slide apart, use something blunt between them and gently lever apart. 
Our Delivery Process

When you place your order with us, we check and log your order details. Then at the close of the day, we batch up and electronically send all orders received that day to our warehouse dispatch team. The next morning they pick/pack the orders and arrange for collection by our courier partners.currently we are using Business Post nad Parcel Force.

Depending on which battery you selected then delivery will be either 2 or 3 working days. (UK Mainland).

Batteries in the "PM"  Range - e.g. PM12-18 - come from our Romsey warehouse and are delivered by Parcel Force - they are generally on a 3 (working) day delivery cycle.

The other golf trolley batteries come out of Corby and are on a 2 day delivery cycle.(Excluding Sat/Sun).

The info above realtes to our golf trolley batteries. The other larger batteries are also usually delivered under the same terms, but on occasions we do need to use specilaised transporters for some of the larger batteries.

What if I am out all day and unable to accept delivery?

Business Post / Parcel Force generally will require a signature before they can leave the package. If you are not in when they call they are supposed to leave a card informing you that delivery was attempted and giving instructions on what to do next.

If there is no one at home during daytime working hours you can simply e-mail us to request a different delivery address to that of the credit card holder. We can then adjust the order paperwork to reflect this. Ideally you should let us know the required delivery address at the same time that you place your order. Often a works address is the best option.

Simply pull the sheath on your new connector back and slide the red and black connectors apart, cross them over so that the outside edge of each connector is now in the middle and slide them back together again (they are a bit like a mini tongued and grooved). You will now find that all is ok. If the connectors will not slide apart, use something blunt between them and gently lever apart. 

Joining Together. There are no male and female connectors with Torberry's. Just orientate them red to red and black to black and push. They fit together perfectly. See below;
